Dr. Armitage is a native Oregonian, graduating from Cottage Grove High School in 1994 before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he received a BS in Chemistry in 1998 and an MS in Food Science in 2001. He completed medical school at UAMS, Little Rock, AR in 2005 with an Air Force Scholarship and residency in Family Medicine at Travis Air Force Base in a UC-Davis, CA affiliated program in 2008. His first active duty assignment was at Cannon AFB, NM where he served 2 years as the flight commander in primary care, responsible for the health of a base population of 14,000 Airmen and dependents. His next 2 years were spent as a Flight Surgeon for Air Force Special Operations, where he distinguished himself with a total of 3 deployments. This included missions to Afghanistan, West Africa and Central Africa where he was responsible for establishing a new clinic, as well as conducting casualty evacuation and humanitarian outreach support.

More About Your Creswell Doctor

Following Active Duty, Dr. Armitage returned to the Willamette Valley and moved to Creswell, OR in 2012 with his wife and two children to pursue his passion for rural family medicine. He worked at Veneta Medical Clinic as the Medical Director, supervising five Physician Assistants and delivering patient care until 2017, when he left to start his own practice and be closer to his family. He continues with his passion for service and aviation with the Oregon Air National Guard, where he serves as a Flight Surgeon for the 123d Fighter Squadron, home of the Redhawks and the mighty F15 Eagle. In this capacity, he has deployed to Eastern Europe with Operation Atlantic Resolve, and to Southwest Asia in support of contingency and multinational coordination operations.

Dr. Armitage is committed to the future of medical care for Oregonians, and volunteers about 500 hours annually as an affiliate professor in Family Medicine. He works with OHSU and other accredited programs to include precepting and teaching clinical students about core functions in Family Practice. This also helps ensure the currency of his own standard of care, which must meet the rigorous standards of the curriculum for student rotators. His practice includes many services not traditionally offered by primary care providers including minor office procedures and dermatologic procedures, casting and splinting, fracture management, cardiac stress tests, vasectomies, and management of complex disease states. He also continues his role in occupational medicine, offering FAA Class 1 (commercial passenger), 2 (freight and noncommercial, fly-for-hire pilots passenger), 3 (general aviation), and BasicMed Flight Physicals for aviators, and DOT medical exams for CDL requirements.

When not at work, Dr. Armitage enjoys hobby farming at his home near Creswell; he also enjoys hunting and fishing, aviation, sailing and playing guitar.

Creswell Doctor Damon Armitage MD offers a full range of medical services at Camas Swale Medical Clinic.
